Rescue FAQs

DHS promotes the compassionate treatment of all animals. In our area of Louisiana, there is no shelter, animal control or another animal welfare organization. We are their only advocates and we need YOUR help to make a difference.

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process has 3 steps. First we ask that you complete an application at http://www.thedeltahumanesociety.com/user/login?refererPageID=1359&keyID=1105&referer=/forms/form.phpQu8formid=1105Am1requirelogin=Yes
Once the application has been completed, we ask to do a brief, informal home visit. Once that has been completed, and you have been approved, you will be able to take the pet home for a sleepover that can last for up to 10 days. If you are satisfied that the pet is compatible with your family members, other pets and lifestyle, we will make the adoption final. Our adoption fees vary but the average is $250.00. The pet will have been spayed or neutered, have completed all of his vaccinations and be ready to go to your home. Finally, you must sign a contract that if, at any time during the life of the pet, your situation changes, it must be returned to us or we must give approval if you have a potential home. You can get more details on our web site.
