Additional adoption info

Thank you for considering a rescue Springer. Rescue Springers are extremely loving and intelligent dogs looking for a caring home to give them a second start at life.

The following adoption application will help us determine the characteristics you are looking for in a dog, as well as who in our organization will respond to your inquiry. Please read this page carefully!

Adoption applications and fees will be required. The adoption fee for a dog in ESRA's foster care program is $350, except for dogs in our Seniors for Seniors program, for which the adoption fee is waived if both the dog and adopter are senior citizens. Foster dogs placed are spayed and neutered, current with vaccinations, and heartworm negative. We do ask that if you adopt a dog through our referral program, you make a tax-deductible donation to help us continue to care for other Springers who need assistance when found to be unwanted, abandoned, and abused.

When meeting a rescue dog, please try to spend as much time as possible with the dog to evaluate compatibility before making the decision to adopt. If you consider an interstate adoption, please discuss the dog's temperament, health, and transportation options very thoroughly with the shelter or foster home before making the decision to adopt the dog. In the best interest of yourself, your family, and the rescue dog, please make certain that the dog you choose to adopt is the right dog for you. Adoption is a big commitment!

It should be understood that applications for adopting a Springer through English Springer Rescue America, Inc. (ESRA) are subject to acceptance based on a review process that requires collecting information from an application, phone interview, vet and/or personal reference check, and possibly a home visit. This information should be submitted, and this process completed, before you meet a rescue dog available for adoption.

Making decisions about dog placement in adoptive homes is an "art", not a "science", and there might be times when applications will be denied for various reason(s). This is left to the discretion of the ESRA coordinator after reviewing all available information. ESRA reserves the right to make all decisions regarding placement or final disposition of any rescued dog in its care into a foster or adoptive home. There is absolutely no guarantee, made or implied, that any person or persons requesting to adopt a Springer Spaniel being fostered through ESRA, or posted on ESRA's web site, will be granted an adoption.
