Shelter FAQs

The Macon County Animal Control and Care Center is a municipal facility under the direct supervision of the Macon County Sheriff's Office. Not only is the center committed to finding adoptable animals homes, but they are also committed to the enforcement and prosecution of animal abuse. We have various foster programs and special adoption events throughout the year. Adoption Fee: $75.00
If you are interested in any of our pets, please feel free to call or visit our facility. We do have an application process to assure that our pets receive the best home possible. Once you have filled out an application there can be up to a 24 to 48 hour wait. All pets will be spayed/neutered before leaving MCAC custody. They are current on all age-appropriate vaccines, microchipped and tested for heartworms (dogs) or FELV (cats). Macon County Animal Control has a veterinarian on staff.
