Rescue FAQs

We started fostering a Pit Bull named Sparrow in May 2009. He was rescued from the Bayview Irrigation District suffering from wounds (may have received as bait for Pit Bull fighting), heartworms, and malnutrition. He spent 21 days at the vet and became the mascot at Smith Ranch Kennels welcoming all dogs. He was the sweetest boy and loved everyone. We put Sparrow to sleep in the Fall as he was diagnosed with testicular cancer and wanted to cross the rainbow. We volunteer to help dogs who are homeless for whatever reason. Homeless dogs who are hungry, thirsty, tired, sick and need a place to stay, love and care.
We serve the Rio Grande Valley in Southern Texas. We will help arrange transport to get our wonderful dogs adopted.

Additional adoption info

Price ranges from $85-$200 depending if the dog was treated for heartworm. You will complete an adoption application, contract, with references and home visits.

We are a private boarding facility helping rescues board dogs. Many of the dogs belong to PAWS. You can write the check to us and we will apply to foster dog fund for boarding and vet costs.
