Areas Compatible Canines serves

Compatible Canines is a Milwaukee based all breed dog rescue. We adopt to anyone in the greater WI/IL area, but please note that our dogs are in foster homes and it may be required for you to make up to 2 visits to the dog's foter home before your adoption is finalized.

Additional adoption info

1. Contact us via our contact page or at compatiblecanines@gmx.com to find out if the dog you are interested in is still available. If you have any questions about the dog, feel free to ask them at this time. You are NOT required to have an application on file to inquire about a dog.

2. Complete & return adoption application and liability release (available on our 'Forms' page).

3. A Compatible Canines representative will contact you, usually within 24 hours, to let you know if your application is approved and to answer any questions you may have.

4. Your contact information will be forwarded to the dog's foster home. The foster will then contact you to arrange a 'Meet and Greet' appointment.

5. If all goes well, you may take your new dog home right away, after completing your Adoption Agreement and paying the adoption fee. We only accept Cash or Check at this time.

***Please note, we DO NOT hold any dogs for any reason. Preference order is set up based on when we receive applications for the dogs. If you set up a "meet and greet" appointment but do not submit an application, there is still the possibility that the dog will be adopted before your appointment. If another qualified person comes in who is also interested in the dog, and can also give it a wonderful home, we will not delay in placing it with a loving owner. Thank you for your understanding.

About Compatible Canines

Compatible Canines is a group of volunteers, dedicated to finding the best possible dogs for each of our families, and the best possible family for each of our dogs. Although we are all self described animal lovers, we are also in it for the people as well.

Our dogs are housed in foster homes throughout the Greater Milwaukee and Waukesha area, where they are provided with the love, time, and energy they need to reach their full potential. Any dog in need of veterinary care receives that as well. Our dogs are all in good health, neutered/spayed, and are brought UTD on vaccinations. When time permits, our dogs are also housetrained and taught basic obedience commands.

All Compatible Canines are evaluated for temperament and personality. This helps us to place them in homes that are well suited to their needs and to the needs of their future owners. If you are looking for a specific type of dog and do not see it on our website, please email us. We work closely with other rescue groups and animal shelters and may be able to assist you in finding your next best friend.

Compatible Canines's adopted pets

Adopt a Pet is the easiest way for you to search for a new pet in Milwaukee, WI.

Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
