Shelter FAQs

HHHS has been a permanent part of the Topeka community since its founding May 4, 1938. The organization is incorporated as a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) business for the purpose of sheltering companion animals in need of care, advocating for anti-cruelty protection of animals and promoting humane education and animal welfare issues. HHHS fosters the adoption of companion animals into responsible homes and reunites lost animals with their owners; promotes sterilization of animals to help reduce overpopulation; provides a facility accessible to the general public; serves the community with educational programs addressing animal welfare issues; and maintains a fiscally responsible organization.
We serve the following regions: Shawnee County, KS. We are located in Topeka, KS and actively serve the Shawnee County area.

The following fees take effect January 1, 2015:

Dog Adoption Fees:

Senior Dog (7 years +) $75
High Profile Pet $250 +

Cat Adoption Fees:
