Rescue FAQs

After volunteering at the local county shelter and seeing so many healthy, adoptable cats and dogs killed, we decided to do something about it. Our mission is to save as many animals as we can, while spreading the message of responsible ownership and the No-Kill Equation. For our mission to succeed, we need all the help we can get! Monetary donations are vital so we can pay vet bills and other expenses. Foster homes are ALWAYS needed! If you can open your heart and home for even a short amount of time, you can save lives! Other volunteer positions are available, also. If you are interested in helping out, contact us and we'll see what we can do!
HHPR is a small, foster-based rescue that is dedicated to saving adoptable animals from kill shelters and placing them into loving homes. We are located in Tampa, FL but we need fosters and volunteers from across the state. We will do long-distance adoptions, provided we get positive, credible references.

Additional adoption info

If you are interested in a dog or cat, please email us so we can talk to you about the animal's personality and determine if it is a good fit.
After that, we require adopters to fill out an application for our records. A current phone number to a veterinarian (if applicable) is required here.
When the application is approved, a meet-and-greet is scheduled at the convenience of the potential adopter and the foster home. Generally, these visits are done at or near the foster home.
If all goes well, a contract is signed and adoption fees are paid, the pet can go home that day!

Please note: If adoption fee is paid by check, we will not release an animal to an adopter until the check has cleared.

Our fees are:

Puppies (under 6 months old): $250

Young (6 months to 2 years): $200

Adults (2 years to 6 years): $150

Seniors (6 years and older): $100

Kittens (under 6 months old): $75

Cats (over 6 months old): $50
