Shelter FAQs

The Humane Society of Barron County is a non-profit, no-kill animal shelter serving Barron County and surrounding areas. Established in 1978 by a small but dedicated group of core volunteers, the HSBC started out with these volunteers taking animals into their own homes and advertising the need for forever homes for these animals. Over the years, since this humble beginning the HSBC has grown into the organization that it is today. From the homes of volunteers, relying on fundraising and the generous donations of our community, we have grown into and remain in our home on Guy Avenue in Barron. HSBC is operated by a small staff and relies heavily on volunteers, as well as funds from donations, adoptions, memberships and fundraisers to keep our doors open for the animals needing our assistance. We sincerely thank you for making this possible.

Adoption applications are usually reviewed and responded to within two days. Dogs: Less than 1 year - $300 1 year to 6 years - $250 7 years and older - $185 Cats: Less than 6 months - $100 6 months and older- $80
