Shelter FAQs

Summit County Animal Control and Shelter is a division of the Summit County Sheriff's Office. We provide animal control services for unincorporated Summit County and Shelter services for all of Summit County. We are an open admission shelter, therefore, we accept all animals from Summit County residents no matter condition or behavior. We are fortunate to be located in a community where pets are valued and therefore have the ability to transfer in many pets from other overcrowded shelters within Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, and Kansas. Our compassionate staff really loves what they do and strives to find the right pet match for each adopter.
All of Summit County, and the Towns of Blue River, Breckenridge, Dillon, Frisco, and Silverthorne.
