Rescue FAQs

Janeens CLD Rescue Network is dedicated to rescuing Catahoulas and Catahoula mixes and placing them with screened qualified Catahoula owners. We look for people not only with experience with the breed but those willing to learn the breed as well. Janeen is starting her own new Rescue. Janeen Jackson brings with her nearly 40 years of experience with the breed and 14 years of past experience as behaviorist, rescue coordinator and vice President of Catahoula Rescue Inc. My dogs were working cattle dogs my best friend and companions always. All my dogs except ONE who died of cancer early, died of old age. Often times, these wonderful dogs have little hope of getting out of the shelters alive. They are mis-identified as to breed because the Catahoula is not a well known breed like say a Lab or Golden. People I choose for me team is a group of screened volunteers that are making it not only our passion but our mission to rescue and temperament test, rehab and retrain the dogs while educating adopters/or potential adopters, or fosters/volunteers. Our goal is to find forever homes and we do stand by our adopters and our dogs for the life of the dog. We take in the Catahoula mixes as well as the purebred or purebred type Catahoulas. Sometimes we do other breeds or mixes that catch our hearts too. We promote team work and responsible guardianship and educate regarding nutrition and humane handling of their dogs. We support those that have to say goodbye to their pets when disease, illness or age makes it necessary for them to say goodbye. We offer all the support we can give . We are privileged to have the support of Catahoula owners and breeders across the USA and Canada and to offer our support back to them as well, and we want to see these dogs appreciated for the great dogs they are or can become. help other reputable rescue groups also when possible. I do support other rescue groups, try to guide and network and help whenever I can with a rescue group that is solid and legitimate. I do have a following of people and plenty of references as to what I have done in my past 14 years in rescue and those people count on me to still be there. I will be opening two new facebook pages as well. I have placed over 700 dogs carefully and well and rehabbed many more, keeping them from going to a shelter.
We are a Foster Home Based Rescue Group With Dogs all over the US and Canada. We have foster homes and dogs available is just about every state at any given time.

Additional adoption info

We have a very detailed adoption application, do a Home Visit, adopt agreement/contract. We do phone visits with the potential adopter once we look the adopt application over and before the home visit. We want to get acquainted on a personal level and there is nothing like having a live person on the end of the phone. We do Vet reference checks and we try to educate them and tell them what food the dog has been getting, and why we feed as we do. We give them copies of all pertinent vetting paper work. We give them contact numbers to call or email and one of those numbers can be called pretty much 24/7. We respond right away to inquiries and we try to keep things flowing so they don't feel that we have forgotten them or that we are dragging out the process.
