Rescue FAQs

Not long ago, Macon Purrs N Paws Humane Society was a dream. Then it became a cattery. It grew quickly and was soon way too much for one person to do alone, even two people found it exhausting to keep up alone. Now we have a small group of volunteers that have stepped up, given a lot of themselves and their time. This small group has made such an impact, not only on the efficiency and time management of the rescue, but in the lives of the cats and dogs that we have rescued. This is what happens when a community comes together in support. Imagine, with what we have accomplished in such a short time with a small group of volunteers and supporters, how much we could accomplish and impact the lives of homeless pets if the community at large stepped up to support us in anyway they can - fostering, volunteering, financial support, adopting. What once was a dream is now a reality. With community support we can accomplish amazing things for our animals! The sky is the limit
Macon Purrs N Paws Humane Society is a 501(c)3 non profit State Licensed Animal Rescue. We operate a rescue cattery and rescue dog foster program. We offer a "Seniors for Seniors" program where a senior citizen can adopt an adult animal at no cost. We pull the cats/kittens and dogs/puppies from Animal Control facilities, vet them (shots and spay/neuter) and get them adopted. We rely solely on donations for food, litter and other necessary supplies. We welcome volunteers to come and either help us clean, which is a daily chore, or just to sit with and pet and play with the kitties. There's a place for everyone.

Additional adoption info

Unless otherwise noted, our adoption fee is $125 for dogs/$85 for cats. This is a non-refundable donation that covers the costs of vetting and housing the animals we take in. Some animals may be higher due to medical costs, etc. associated with a particular animal.
Our animals are ONLY adopted as family pets. Macon Purrs N Paws strives to match every pet with the right family. This is the basis for our application process, which consists of a written application and a home visit PRIOR to an adoption being approved.
