Shelter FAQs

Lowndes County Animal Services is committed to community safety and the prevention of cruelty to animals. Our goal is to protect the public from stray and dangerous animals. We have dedicated ourselves to providing prompt, professional services to the citizens and animals of our community. We are dedicated to the prevention of cruelty to animals through operating an animal shelter for stray, abandoned, and abused animals. By operating an adoption center for desirable pets. By investigating reported cruelty and abuse cases; and by educating the public about responsible animal ownership. The Lowndes County Animal Shelter envisions a time when our community embraces the mutual benefits of the human-animal bond and treats all animals with care and compassion. Animal Services we provide: Enforcing Animal Control Ordinances. Investigating animal abuse and cruelty complaints. Humanely capturing distressed, nuisance, or dangerous animals. Sheltering stray and abused pets. Offer healthy pets for adoption. Offer refuge to pets during disaster evacuations, accidents involving the owner and pet, eviction, and while the owner is detained or incarcerated.
We adopt to all areas, not just locally.
