Additional adoption info

*WE ARE NOT A SHELTER. Once we receive your application, it will be reviewed by at least three volunteers in our organization -- the adoption coordinator, the foster home, and one member of our board.

Although we take your preference in pet seriously, please understand that we may recommend another dog if we cannot approve your application for the animal you are interested in. We will match your application with the dog that we feel will fit your family and its needs.

*We do require references and they will be checked
*Most of our dogs will need a fenced yard. A tie out or cable run is not an adequate substitute.
*We do ask for an adoption fee. This can be a tax donation as 100% of it goes back to pay for the expenses and needs of the other animals still in rescue. Our adoption fees are $250 for a puppy (with $50 refundable upon completion of the Spay/Neuter contract), $200 for a purebred adult and $150 for a mixed breed adult.
*We require a signed contract that you will care for your newly adopted pet as it deserves. The contract also gives the Rescue the right to claim the pet if it is being abused or neglected.
*We require that the animal be returned back to the rescue for whatever reason. We will ALWAYS take our rescues back.
*We do ask that the adoptive family stay in touch and let us know if they have any questions.

Adopt a Pet is the easiest way for you to search for a new pet in Ashland, OR.

Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
