Rescue FAQs

The CatWorks is a non-profit (501c-3) organization established to enrich the lives of abandoned, rescued, and orphaned cats and kittens that are without shelter, food, health care, and love, and to save the lives of homeless animals by providing temporary foster homes and ultimately, permanent homes.
We are based in Berks County, PA and support the surrounding areas, with volunteers in several neighboring counties.

Additional adoption info

The CatWorks was established in order to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home stray, orphaned, abused, and abandoned animals. To that end, we have very strict adoption policies that must be followed, and no exceptions will be made under any circumstance.

If you are interested in adopting any of our young kittens, please be advised that you may have to wait up to six weeks before you can bring them home. Our veterinarian requires that all kittens must have 2 distemper vaccines 3 weeks apart and weigh at least two pounds before they can be spayed or neutered.

If you choose a cat or kitten that you are interested in at one of our adoption days, we must first approve your application for adoption. No cat or kitten may leave an adoption day without approval from a board member of The CatWorks.

Please be advised that all animals currently residing in the residence where the cat or kitten is to be placed must be spayed or neutered, up-to-date on their vaccines, and tested negative for FIV/FELV. We will be verifying this information with your veterinarian.

We will not allow any adoption of a cat or kitten for a "gift." Becoming a guardian to a cat or kitten is a very serious obligation and should not be taken lightly. We believe that all family members should be involved when selecting a cat or kitten to become part of your family.

There is an adoption fee which includes the following for cats and kittens:

FIV/FeLV test
FVRCP vaccine
Flea / Ear mite treatment
De-Worming
Sterilization
