Shelter FAQs

The New Britain Pound is funded through the City of New Britain. Services provided include information on adoptions and lost and found pets, investigations of complaints on wildlife and domestic animals, education to residents on laws pertaining to animals, pick-up of deceased animals, and a number of other services. The regular hours of service are; Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Saturday from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Adoption hours when someone will be at the pound are Saturdays from 10-12 & Wednesdays from 3 to 6 pm. ****Please be aware that if you are interested in adopting...ACT IMMEDIATELY.....*** We encourage all adopters to spay or neuter their new family member if it hasn't already been done prior to adoption. Please remember that you should make a lifetime commitment to your pet. If your living conditions are not stable, please think twice before adopting a pet so that you may not be forced to give your pet away down the road. Always remember that pets need food, water and shelter available to them. Treat your pet right by being a responsible owner and they will be your best friend! Please note that only the animals at the New Britain Pound will be posted here. Thank you for considering adopting from the New Britain Pound. *This account is maintained by NBPD CSO Volunteers. **NOTICE: I am NOT affiiated with FONBAC.**
Public Viewing hours are Wednesday 3p.m.- 6p.m. and Saturdays 10 a.m. - 1p.m. or call our ACO at 860-223-5021 to set up an appointment.
