Shelter FAQs

PAW Animal Shelter is a 501c3, non profit No-Kill Shelter serving the Southeast part of Iowa for the past 15+ years. It is our mission to supply a safe, loving enviroment to stray, lost, abandoned or surrendered animals until we find them a loving "forever home".
PAW allows adoptions throughout the Continental United States. We feel if you are willing to give one of our amazing animals a forever home, you should not be denied because of your location. However PAW Animal Shelter does not commercially fly any of our animals. Arrangements must be made by the adopting family to get their newest family member home.

Additional adoption info

We have an adoption application that must be approved before you are allowed to adopt a pet from PAW. We require a vet check and two personal references. A home visit may be required.

Our Dog/Puppy adoption fee is $185. This includes spay/neuter, one year rabies shot, all puppy and/or booster shots, heartworm test, worming and a lifetime Microchip. We require that all our adopted dogs be kept on heartworm prevention.

Our Cat/Kitten adoption fee is $85 and includes spay/neuter, rabies, all boosters and worming. Our cat/kittens are not declawed unless surrendered/ found that way.

We ask that for ANY reason you cannot keep your pet you first contact PAW Animal Shelter before surrendering it to another shelter.
