Hi, I am Heather, Owner and Operator of Pawd Squad Animal Rescue based out of Concordia, Ks. Being an animal lover has always made me want to work in the animal world. Though I had aspirations of becoming a vet, I had no desire to stay in school for an additional 8 years past high school.
In 2007, I began working at the Humane Society of Atchison, in Atchison, Ks. It was there my passion for working with animals really shined through. So much information learned has really help shape my passion even more and the knowledge gained to help those without a voice - the animals.
With the help from my significant other, Chris, we are able to house break, leash train, basic obedience train, crate train, and provide the attention the dog needs in order to become adoptable. Though I am not certified, I am however trained through the ASPCA, to do Safer Assessment testing. This means we will assess for any type of aggression, modify it, and make the dog become more appealing and adoptable. We will do our best to work the dogs to the best of their ability so they can live a happy, healthy life in their new forever home.
My credentials include:
National Animal Control Association Training
ASPCA Safer Assessment
Investigations of Illegal Animal Fighting
Several years of experience working with dogs and their behaviors
Rescue Coordinator / Transportation
Coordinator of Donations
Coordinator of Fundraisers
THE MISSION:
Thank you to all that supports the mission of re-homing dogs and other animals as well. It takes dedicated and passionate people to work in this field to help those who do not have a voice of their own, the animals. The primary focus of this organization to assist and re-home dogs, however, it is not limited to just canine companions. This rescue will also assist with Sugar Gliders, occasionally cats, and other exotic type animals.
The mission of this organization is to help owners and breeders find permanent homes for their dogs instead of using what they think of being the last resort, euthanasia. So many dogs are euthanized for so many ridiculous reasons and it needs to be stopped. The mission is also to educate communities the importance of spaying or neutering your pet as is making adoption your only option from shelters, rescues, and humane societies. As like children, dogs are like family and make great companions for people of all ages. It is also important to know the mission of this organization is based on high demands the ever changing economy. We will provide the best care and training for the dogs to the best of our ability and with the best resources possible.
All dogs will have wellness checks by a local vet, spayed or neutered, vaccinated against rabies, receive the canine parvo/distemper vaccination, bordetella, and optional microchip before leaving with their new families. Any other medical issues will be documented and discussed at the time of an animal inquiry and/ or adoption. A history of each dog will be provided when available and to the best of our knowledge.
With several years of experience, I feel confident the rescue can succeed and become one of the best well known rescue organizations in the immediate area. Through hard work and dedication between myself, volunteers, foster homes and the community, we will stand strong and fight for those who can not speak for themselves, the animals.
