Rescue FAQs

Fast Friends is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) dedicated to educating the public about Greyhounds and sighthounds from around the world with the primary goal of finding responsible, loving homes for them. Fast Friends envisions a world where no Greyhound or sighthound lacks for a loving home and these breeds are valued and celebrated for their uniqueness.

Fast Friends works closely with both international and domestic partners to bring retired racing Greyhounds and other sighthounds in need from countries where they have almost no chance of a local adoption to its facility in Swanzey, New Hampshire. Each dog receives high quality care with a focus on one-on-one staff time and individualized plans to help them overcome any neglect or trauma they have experienced so that they can be successful in a home. We are dedicated to taking in dogs with the most challenging circumstances.
Fast Friends believes in the importance of a home visit prior to adoption. Because of this, we only consider adopters within an approximate two-hour radius from our facility in Swanzey, NH.

Adoption steps

  1. Submit Application
    1. Please visit http://www.helpinggreyhounds.org/adopt to fill out an online application or print one to send back in the mail.
  2. Interview
    1. We will schedule a time for a phone call to get to know you better and help match you with a dog who will be the best fit with your family.
  3. Home Check
    1. We will come to your home to help assess any areas where your new dog may have trouble or need extra training (stairs, etc.).

Additional adoption info

Our adoption fee includes a state health certificate, all vaccinations, spay/neuter, dental cleaning, harness, collar, leash, and dental kit.
