Rescue FAQs

Second Chance is an all volunteer, NO-KILL animal rescue organization focusing on stray, orphaned, abandoned and abused companion animals as space availability applies. Second Chance works closely with the SPCA serving Erie County and the City of Buffalo Animal Shelter taking their animals when they become full or when an animal needs special care and fostering. There are NO PAID people in our group, all monies that are donated go directly to the care of the shelter animals. We all serve out of LOVE. We are in need of volunteers in Clarence and Williamsville to clean and play with the kitties that are awaiting their "furr-ever home at PETsMART, Transit Rd., Clarence.....PETsMART on Amelia Dr., Orchard Park If you have a couple of hours in the morning or evening to help us make the life of our animals a little better while they are in the above stores, please go to our website: www.secondchanceshelteringnetwork.com, print out the volunteer application, send it to us and we will get you started helping us save lives.

Additional adoption info

Second Chance does not do pre-approvals or blanket approvals as we have fostered these animals and know where they will fit in and where they will not. We know if they are good with other animals, good with children etc. and as a result our return rate is under 1%.

When you see one of our animals you are interested in, please take down the name and call 652-6051 to put in an application for that particular animal. If you can provide the type of enviornment that this animal needs, we will set up a meet and greet and do the adoption.

Adoption donation for cats: $100
Adoption donation for dogs: $250

All animals have been tested for feline leukhemia/FIV (cats) and heartworm (dogs over 6 months) and are negative, spay/neutered, vaccinated, micro chipped, dewormed, flea control applied and come with one month of complimentary pet insurance (must have computer access)
