Areas Double D Aussie Rescue - Abilene Chapter serves

We are in Abilene Texas, I was raised with Aussies and my family raised aussies for generations. I am a nurse and my husband, a firefighter - paramedic,we have worked with a variety of rescues and help a mixture of breeds get transferred from our local shelter to saftey but we will take aussies' in need to foster for some great rescues or on our own and we will rehab and rehome them. These dogs live as our family pets and are worked and trained along with ours, we learn about the dogs, the good bad and the ugly and can tell you which is or is not a good fit. We have had a great response, some families come with one dog in mind but have left with the perfect family dog due to we try to match, not for looks, but, for who will fit in your home and lifestyle and so far it has been great for adoptors and our dogs....total win-win!

Additional adoption info

Contact us and we can send you a application/contract, our adoption fee is usually 200.00 cash, check, credit cards or paypal is excepted. (FEEs due to vary from dog to dog to what we need to do for vetting and health issues)

Our main requirments are a vet reference if you do not have one please get one and have one in place. And/or two-three personal references. And and home visit or if that is not possible home photos.

Our fee covers you getting a healthy dog at the time of adoption but please if you really think 250.00 is too high for a dog that has been living as a memebr of a family and is healthy and UTD on all medical issues, mirochipped and is a well mannered potential family member then maybe one of our babies are not meant for you. We put time, care, love and transport these animals to vet appointments to be seen and cared for not to mention they are fed good food, trained, spayed or neutered, microchipped, protected and at the end ready to find that perfect fur-ever family for them.

Adopt a Pet is the easiest way for you to search for a new pet in Abilene, TX.

Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
