Rescue FAQs

Paws First is a 501c3 dog rescue. All dogs live in foster homes, not in a shelter or kennel situation.
PLEASE NOTE: While we have a Forest Lake address, we have foster homes all around the metro area. Meetings are done close to the dogs foster home. Paws First has been an active rescue in Minnesota for over 21 years. Located just 20-30 minutes from Minneapolis/St Paul gives us a large area for adoptions, as we do not impose a distance limit on our adopters. (We do not ship or fly dogs however.)

Additional adoption info

All dogs and cats adopted from Paws First are spayed or neutered before they go to their new forever homes. Puppies and Kittens can be safely altered at 10 weeks of age or 3 pounds. All adult animals are heartworm tested and are current on vaccines.
