Rescue FAQs

The Just Dog Breeds "Dog Rescue Award" is awarded exclusively to breed rescue groups as recognition for their hard work and kindness towards dogs.

Smaller Paws is a small, volunteer based rescue, dedicated to re-homing mostly Pomeranians, other small/med. dogs (and occasionally larger dogs too when we have room) that have been abandoned by their owners. Most come from animal shelters, that due to limited space, can not house them for long. All our dogs are kept in our foster homes where we are able to learn their likes and dislikes, their good and ...not so good behaviors. It also allows us to re-train the unfavorable behaviors, and to encourage the better ones! We provide spay and neutering for all age appropriate dogs. Each dog is current on vaccinations, flea preventive, and on HW preventive. Adoption fees are to assist us with their transports, sterilizations, vaccinations, medications, micro chipping, tests, grooming, feed, toys, doggy blankies, general care, time spent, ETC! Please keep in mind when adopting, that we operate our rescue group SOLELY from the adoption fees. We receive absolutely no funding from anyone. Our rescue is just one of many efforts to help solve the problem of pet overpopulation.

We are a small non profit, foster home based toy dog rescue. We serve the MD, D.C. , Virginia areas.
