Additional adoption info
Furry Pals Adoption Process: Please read this information prior to completing an online application. Furry Pals Rescue (FPR) does not have any paid staff. FPR is not a shelter and is 100% staffed by volunteers. Applications are typically reviewed after 6 pm, and may take 24 hours to 5 days to review. Please be patient. Your application has not been completed, If you do not scroll down to the bottom of the page, press the submit button and receive an email confirmation.
We do not have a physical shelter to visit and view pets; Furry Pals are primarily in foster homes or privately boarded. Appointments for meet and greets will be scheduled after an adoption application has been completed and reviewed by a volunteer adoption coordinator. If you would like to know more about a Furry Pal, please review the information listed in their online bio and complete an online application. Furry Pals are not for sale. Each has been rescued and our goal is to find the best adoptive environment in a permanent, loving forever home.
Note: If you are not ready to adopt yet, please wait to fill out an application until you are. For additional information please see http://www.furrypalsrescue.org/Pages/FAQs.aspx
FPR uses the following guidelines and policies when processing applications. While not limited to, these are the basic guidelines. FPR reserves the right to deny any application. Please do not take this personally and understand that every volunteer in this organization works hard to do what is in the best interest of each and every dog.
Applicants must be at least 21 years old and live in or around the Greater Houston, TX area. FPR will not ship pets out of state, nor will we deliver. In rare instances we do allow for adoptions of (adult pets only) to homes in Texas outside of the Houston area; however it will take longer for the adoption process. An in person meet and greet is mandatory. This ensures there is a genuine bond with your potential new family member. In addition it will take time to locate a rescue organization in your area to conduct a pre-adoption home visit on behalf of Furry Pals. This decision is on a case by case basis and primarily for special needs Furry Pals only.
We require that all animals in the applicant’s home be spayed or neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, and on heartworm prevention.
We do not reserve or hold dogs. Even if you believe you may the perfect match for a particular dog, we will not hold a dog in a foster home while reviewing an application or waiting for you to decide if you wish to adopt.
We take the placement of our dogs very seriously and do not allow them to be adopted as gifts for another. We do this to ensure that the owner of the dog is the right match and we do require a 'meet and greet' take place prior to any adoption consideration.
Our priority is always the dog. We thank you in advance for your understanding of our priorities and requirements.
The adoption contribution (cash only), helps defray the costs of spaying/neutering, testing, and vaccination but rarely, if ever, will cover all expenses. The adoption contribution is non-refundable and to be paid at the time of adoption. Donations are welcomed and appreciated. For a list of typical fees please see why we need donations here: http://www.furrypalsrescue.org/Pages/Donate.aspx
