About CERA Dog Society

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and probably economic reasons, direct flights from Taipei to Vancouver have been disrupted for May 2020. Therefore we do not have dog carrier flights lined up until at least June 2020 for overseas adoption. Please apply only if you are willing to wait for your adoptable dog so no time and efforts are wasted on both ends. Thank you for your understanding.

Our volunteers have invested a great deal of care and effort to prepare each rescue dog for adoption, however each dog will require continued work in his/her new home with a family understanding of his/her individual needs. Our adoption process is lengthy to ensure that each dog is matched with the right home, and that each family receives the most suitable dog the first time around.

If your family has kid(s) under the age of 11, please check with us first by email if the dog you are applying has experience living with young children. We do not adopt dogs (Formosans are particularly skittish with strangers and not eager to please) who aren't compatible with kids to families with young children.

CERA pre-screens all dogs and will not knowingly provide a dog that is dangerous or unsuitable for adoption. Please note CERA does NOT have a shelter facility in Vancouver should you want to return your adopted dog for any reason. Returns are stressful for everyone involved, please consider seriously before applying as you are making a lifetime commitment to the dog.

CERA Dog Society's adopted pets

Adopt a Pet is the easiest way for you to search for a new pet in Richmond, BC.

Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
