Rescue FAQs

We are a small shelter and rescue providing a safe, clean, warm and friendly haven for lost or abandoned dogs in Rensselaer County, NY. Before dogs are adopted they will receive a veterinary check-up, prescribed vaccinations according to State Law, spay or neuter.
AARC - Animal Annex of Rensselaer County provides the bridge between lost or abandoned to re-united or re-homed forever. Our strays come from Brunswick, Grafton, Pittstown, Poestenkill, Sand Lake and Schaghticoke, NY. ** remember dogs are unaware of town lines and may have wandered over into another community.

Additional adoption info

We require an adoption application be filled out completely. Information contained on the application is then verified by an interview and home visit. Once that process is completed satisfactorily the adoption contract is next, along with an adoption fee of between $200 - 300.
