Rescue FAQs

Located in Beautiful British Columbia and serving the Greater Vancouver & surrounding area, LEASH Animal Welfare Society was founded in 2012. We are a rescue, not a shelter, and are therefore a network of foster homes committed and united in the struggle against dog overpopulation. We are a no-borders animal rescue that operates solely on the generosity of local businesses, monetary donations from kindhearted individuals, and the amazing volunteers involved in our Foster Care Program. We work with all breeds of dogs located all over. Primarily we work in Manitoba, BC and the Northwest Territories. We also assist high kill shelters in the United States, and meat trade dogs in care of Soi Dog Foundation. We work diligently to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home homeless, unwanted, abused or abandoned animals allowing for them to have a new LEASH on life. Additional adoption info

LEASH adoption fees are as follows: For dogs under 1 Year of age: $450 For dogs over 1 year of age: $400 LEASH has an adoption contract that we require each person to read, sign and by which to abide. We do our best to ensure that our dogs are going to the most amazing forever homes. We require our adopters to maintain an open line of communication and provide us with updates when asked. A lot of work goes into the rescue, rehabilitation, fostering and adoption of our dogs. Our contract indicates that if for any reason you have to rehome or surrender your adopted dog that the dog is to be returned to LEASH.
