Shelter FAQs

Riverside County Animal Services operates four shelters. Our locations are in Blythe, Jurupa Valley, San Jacinto and Thousand Palms.
Riverside County

Additional adoption info

Visit any of our four locations during open hours to meet available pets. When you find the right match, complete the adoption process during your visit. Most of our pets go home the same day they're adopted, so you’ll likely get to take your new pet home right away.

We recommend bringing immediate family members to meet your prospective pet. Our staff will provide guidance on successful pet introductions at home.

The pets featured online are available for adoption on first come first serve basis. We do not guarantee that pets seen online will be available to adopt when you arrive at the animal shelter. The County of Riverside Animal Services does not reserve pets for adoption by telephone or e-mail. You must come to the shelter to adopt an animal and refer to the animal's pet identification number (PID) when inquiring about a particular pet. Please bring a leash or carrier with you if you intend to adopt a pet.
