Midwest Pet Refuge is dedicated to improving the quality of life for the animals in our region.

MPR is located in Portland, IN and we help homeless, abandoned, stray and unwanted pets in East Central Indiana. We are focused on helping animals in need, as well as educating the public on responsible pet ownership.

Midwest Pet Refuge is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization relying on community support, volunteers, and donations to operate.

Adoption steps

  1. Submit Application
    1. Please submit an application at www.midwestpetrefuge.com/adopt
      If you do not hear from us, please email us at adopt@midwestpetrefuge.com
  2. Approve Application
    1. We review and approve applications prior to setting up meetings, as our dogs and some of our cats are in foster homes.
  3. Meet the Pet
    1. After approval, we will set up a meeting to decide if this is the right pet for you. Usually adoptions can be finalized that day!

Additional adoption info

We require a completed application and references. Our fees cover the vetting we have in our pets for adoption. We are looking for loving family homes who are wanting to adopt a new indoor family member.
We are a 501(c)(3) organization, so all donations are tax deductible.
