Rescue FAQs

The Great Dane Rescue Alliance was formed in 2012 by a group of dedicated volunteers that wanted to focus their efforts on helping Great Danes and other dogs that needed them most. Through their foster home based program, they work to rescue and rehabilitate those that may be otherwise overlooked. Mission: "The Corporation is organized for charitable and prevention of cruelty to animals purposes to: • Help abandoned, neglected, unwanted and/or abused Great Danes and other dogs with the ultimate goal of placing them in loving, permanent homes; • Promote responsible dog ownership to potential adopters as well as the general public concerning building a positive relationship with your companion animal and proper animal husbandry including the benefits of spaying/neutering and proper nutrition; • Provide guidance and counseling to owners to ensure that the needs of their companion animal are met in totality; and • Further other actions that promote increasing adoptability of Great Danes and and other dogs and to increase the humane treatment of dogs"
We have foster homes primarily in NC, SC and VA but will adopt to other states on the East Coast providing we can find another rescue to do a home visit for us.

Additional adoption info

The process consists of a phone interview, vet check, reference check and a home visit. All of these must be completed prior to meeting any of our available danes. In order to adopt, you will have to come meet the Dane at their foster home and bring all of your current dogs as well as all family members. Our adoption areas consist varies along the East Coast depending on if we can find another rescue person to do our home visit for us.

Our adoption application can be found on our website. Please complete it and scanned, then email it to us.

Our adoption fees are $350.00 for danes under 1 year and $325.00 for danes over 1 year. In addition, you must complete an obedience class with a positive reinforcement based trainer.
