LARAS House is a 501(c)3 No Kill Animal Rescue Organization located in Mexia, Limestone County, Texas. The organization started in 2008, and our shelter opened it’s doors in 2010. At any given time we may house as many as 100 + dogs and puppies and often a similar number of cats and kittens at both the shelter and in our foster care homes.
We are based in Mexia, Texas and serve Limestone County and surrounding areas. Our intakes usually come from Limestone County, Freestone County, Leon County, Navarro County, McClennan County and sometimes much further. People that are seeking a no-kill shelter come to LARAS House. We adopt well beyond those boundaries for the right 'forever home' fit. Additional adoption info

We want to ensure our adoptable pets will be adequately cared for in their new forever homes.

If interested in any of our pets, call or email to set up an appointment If an animal is in foster care, you will need to schedule a time to visit so that we can ensure the pet you are interested in can be brought to the shelter for a meet-n-greet.

Once a decision to adopt has been made, a contract will be signed with commitments by the adopters to maintain the health and welfare of the animal, including future spay/neuter (if not already completed), along with ongoing rabies and other annual vaccinations. Fees vary based on age of the animal and the stage it is in the vetting process, For fully vetted dogs (shots, including rabies, spay/neuter, and micro-chip), the fees range from $125-$200..
