Rescue FAQs

Highway To Love Transport is a program coordinated by the Madison Oglethorpe Animal Shelter. Description M.O.A.S. is an open admissions shelter located in rural Georgia. We work closely with animal control in an effort to provide food, water, shelter and veterinary care to the 1000's of homeless and abandoned animals dumped out in our area each year. Every year over 250,000 shelter animals are euthanized in Georgia. This is sadly one of the highest euthanasia rates in the United States. Highway to Love Transport is a volunteer based program providing life saving services for homeless pets that would otherwise not make it into loving homes. Adoptable K9's are selected because of their personality and adoptability. They are given full medical exams and vetted for a minimum of 2 weeks to determine any additional underlying conditions. All animals receive the appropriate medical care to insure that they are healthy, spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Once the animal has completed this regimen, it is placed on a climate controlled transport vehicle and brought to PetSmart Adoption Days at 288 West Ave Stamford, CT (203) 353-9807 These areas have been identified as having a high demand for shelter animals because they have been successful in enacting and enforcing laws that protect homeless pets. Upon arrival to the adoption event, the dog is ready for immediate adoption by a loving family. Our Goal... is to save as many homeless, unwanted and abandoned animals as possible while reducing the overpopulation problem through our low cost spay and neuter clinic. Look at our Upcoming Events page for our next Offsite Adoption event and plan to attend...
Adoption Events are held at: Petsmart 475 Bank St Waterbury, Connecticut 06708. (203) 596-9997
