Rescue FAQs

Heath's Haven is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit, organization dedicated to rescuing and improving the lives of special needs animals in the community. We specialize in the rehabilitation of animals with neurological conditions and mobility issues. The dogs are provided with everything they need to succeed in a forever home, including a wheelchair if needed. We do this for the animals that would otherwise be looked over and euthanized. Our mission is to educate the public that special needs dogs can live a meaningful, healthy, happy life...just like any other dog!
Heath's Haven Rescue is located in Athol, ID and we rescue dogs from all over the country, including Mexico, Iran, and Canada.

Additional adoption info

The adoption process for Heath's Haven Rescue starts with the potential adopter filling out an adoption application. We will then contact the potential adopter to set up a Meet and Greet for the dog and the potential adopter. The next step is a "sleepover." This could be for one night, a weekend, or even as long as a week or two. We want it to work for everyone! Next, the potential adopter would fill out he adoption contract and submit their adoption donation of $150.
