Rescue FAQs

Atlantic Region Central Border Collie Rescue, Inc., (ARCBCR) is a dream come true for a passionate group of Border Collie lovers who had the good fortune of meeting, and befriending each other through past rescue work. The purpose of ARCBCR is to rescue Border Collies and Border Collie mixes from situations that are neglectful, abusive, and endangering. We take in dogs from shelters, dogs found as strays, and dogs that can no longer be kept by their current families. We provide the following for each and every one of our dogs: a loving and caring foster home, all necessary veterinarian care, including spay or neuter, and any rehabilitation a dog might need enabling it to acclimate into their forever, loving home. ARCBCR is a small all volunteer non-profit 501(c)(3) group, so if you would like to make a donation to help us care for the dogs, your gift is tax deductible.
Atlantic Region Central Border Collie Rescue, Inc. (ARCBCR) is a nonprofit border collie rescue organization located in Richmond, Virginia and Central Maryland. We work with border collies and border collie mixes. We take in dogs primarily from Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, and North Carolina. These dogs come to us for various reasons. Some are neglected, some abandoned, others unwanted. We work closely with various state and local shelters, pulling dogs that are at risk of euthanasia. Other rescue organizations contact us, and we help them with placements.

Additional adoption info

If you are interested in adopting a ARC Border Collie, please visit our website to complete an adoption application. Once you have completed the application, one of our volunteers will contact you to set up a home visit.

If you adopt a dog from ARCBCR, it will come to you spayed or neutered, current on all vaccines, heartworm tested and current on heartworm preventative. Our Adoption Fee starts at $200 for sweet seniors, $300 for adults & $400 for puppies ($100 reimbursement once spayed/neutered). You can be assured that each and every penny goes back into the next dog we take in. The reality is, while you are making arrangements to take home your new family member, one of us is making arrangements to evaluate and rescue the next ARCBCR dog in need.
