Shelter FAQs

Maury County/ Columbia Animal Services Center provides comprehensive animal care and control services for residents of Maury County. The Animal Services Center facility houses the Adoption Center, Intake Center, shelter for stray and unwanted pets, the Animal Control Division, and a veterinary clinic for shelter animals.

Adoption steps

  1. Visit the Facility and Find a Pet
    1. Potential adopters are able to view pets that are available for adoption and have supervised meetings.
  2. Submit Application
    1. Once a person decides which pet they are interested in, we begin the application process.
  3. Meet the Pet
    1. Once approved, we require a meet & greet with any other pets in the homes, children, etc.
  4. Sign Adoption Contract
    1. Adoption paperwork is completed after there is an approved application & successful meet and greet.
  5. Pay Fee
    1. Dogs=$75.00, Cats= $50.00
  6. Take the Pet Home
    1. After paperwork is completed and fees are paid, adopters are free to leave with their new pets.

The Adoption Center provides pet adoption services for the public. All adoptable pets are spayed/ neutered and have received all applicable vaccinations, flea/tick preventative, deworming, and have been tested for heartworms (dogs).
