Rescue FAQs

We at Serenity Place Rescue are dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating cats and kittens in hopes that one day no animal will be without a loving and responsible forever home. Serenity Place Rescue is a group of volunteers who come together to help the abandoned, sick, injured, frightened, and homeless cats and kittens who otherwise would die on the streets. After many years volunteering with shelters and other rescue organizations, we knew there was more assistance needed in the community for families and the elderly who found themselves unable to care for their beloved pets. Serenity Place Rescue was formed in 2004 and we are a registered non-profit 501(c)3 organization. Serenity place Rescue focuses on rescuing the cats and kittens abandoned on the streets and the unlucky ones who face euthanasia in overcrowded shelters; as well as the disadvantaged ones with physical handicaps, some with leukemia (FeLV), or kitty aids virus (FIV), some living in feral colonies, in moving situations, or in case of the owners demise. Serenity Place Rescue has volunteers who foster cats and kittens in their homes until they are placed at PetSmart waiting for adoption with loving and forever homes. While they are in our care, they are prepared for adoption, and potential adopters can meet and interact with the cats and make the important decision to adopt them. Every applicant fills out an adoption questionnaire and upon approval, each pet is delivered to its new family. A signed contract is part of the home delivery, as well as a reminder to the new owner that Serenity Place Rescue offers a lifetime return policy if some unforeseen situation arises whereby they can no longer keep the pet. We will take back our cats no matter how long the time has been. Serenity Place Rescue offers advice, assistance, and education to the public on responsible pet ownership. We set up information booths in Southern California locations and at the yearly America's Family Pet Expo in Orange County at the Costa Mesa Fairgrounds, where we also offer cats for adoptions, plus promoting the importance of spay and neutering. In addition we are involved in the City of Los Angeles Spay and Neuter Program.
Greater Los Angeles Area including the San Fernando Valley, Conejo Valley, Ventura and Santa Barbara County.
