Shelter FAQs

We are a small public shelter serving Huachuca City. We also take in animals from Cochise County and Ft. Huachuca. We like to educate to public on the importance of getting their pets spayed/neutered and getting their rabies and yearly vaccinations. We do all we can to locate stray animals' owners when they are picked up before putting them up for adoption. Microchipping your pet and registering the microchip would go a long way in getting your lost pet returned to you safely. We also contact rescues for assistance. We cannot afford a foster program ourselves, but we do depend on rescues' fosters for help.
We serve Huachuca City. We do have a contract with Cochise County to take in the animals from the county. We also have a contract with Ft. Huachuca (army base), to take in their animals as well.

Additional adoption info

Our fees for adoptions start at $25 and go to $70 depending on what we need to have done to ready the animals for adoption. We have potential adopters fill out an adoption application with up to 72 hour approval/decline process. If approved, adopters are required to sign an adoption contract. It states that the adopter will be sure to have the animal receive it's rabies vaccination and to be licensed in their city of residence if required. You must adopt in person.
