Holley's Hopping Habitat

Holley's Hopping Habitat-Rabbit Rescue & Education Center is the only 501(c)(3) non-profit rabbit-only rescue and education facility in Northwest Louisiana.

Our organization is committed to the rescue, care and adoption of domestic (pet) rabbits in need. In addition to serving as a safe haven for unwanted and neglects rabbits, Holley's Hopping Habitat also provides education to anyone wanting to learn more about pet rabbits or what we do at the shelter. We also have our own therapy program, which allows us to visit special care facilities in our community.

Rescue FAQs

Holley's Hopping Habitat was started when we discovered just how wonderful rabbits were as pets. It is our greatest passion to educate others about the benefits of adding a pet rabbit to their home. We take in rabbits, provide medical care if needed, and work extra hard to ensure that the rabbits that hop into our life leave to homes that will love them as much as we do.

When taking in a rabbit, we try our best to get the rabbit litter box trained, socialized and people ready. Holley's Hopping Habitat has a very strict adoption application and contract. An application must be filed out in order to be considered as a potential adopter. Some rabbits in our shelter have specific needs. Using the responses on your application, we will help you choose one of the rabbits that fits your application. For example: If your home is quiet and very relaxing, then a rabbit with a quiet and relaxed personality would be the best match for your home. There are no fees or hidden costs for adopting a rabbit from Holley's Hopping Habitat. The only requirement is that you have a cage/kennel, food bowl, water bowl, and a litter box. These items are essential for the rabbit.

In an effort to bring more awareness about rabbits, we will post about the Rabbit Club meetings, rabbits available for adoption, helpful tips and resources, links for rabbit related websites, upcoming events, etc. We kindly ask that you please share our page with others. If you should have any questions, please do not hesitate to send us an email.

Additional adoption info

NOTICE !

Applicants MUST be at least 18 years old.

A completed application IS REQUIRED in order to be approved to adopted a shelter rabbit. Failure to complete an application or providing false information WILL result in your application being denied.

Holley's Hopping Habitat reserves the right to deny any application for any reasons deemed necessary for the well-being of the shelter rabbits.

If approved for adoption, applicants will be required to meet at the shelter no less than three (3) times prior to taking a rabbit home. This will ensure that everyone is ready for the responsibility, all questions have been answered, and proper handling and care techniques have been demonstrated. This is a requirement, regardless of previous pet rabbit ownership experience.

Holley's Hopping Habitat does not require a designated adoption fee, but we ask applicants to consider making a donation to the shelter.
We also require that approved applicants ensure that the adopted rabbit will have (prior to leaving the facility): adequate enclosure(s) and spacing for a pet rabbit, food and water bowls, litter box, wood or paper bedding, rabbit food, and Timothy hay.
Additional details are provided when application is finalized.

ALL questions contained within our application ARE REQUIRED in order to ensure that each rabbit gets adopted by a family that is best suited for their needs. For example: If your home is quiet and calm, then a rabbit that needs quiet and calm would be the best match for your home. If your home is noisy and busy, then a rabbit that does not mind noise or steady movement would be the best match for your home.

Our application does need to know about any disabilities that anyone in your home may have in order to match your home with a rabbit that will do well in your environment. We do not discriminate, and we encourage those with disabilities to apply.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call us at (318) 389-1967 or email us at hoppinghabitat@aol.com.
