Rescue FAQs

WLCCAR's mission is to rescue, re-home and prevent the needless euthanization of healthy dogs due to overburdening of shelters and humane societies. We provide counseling to owners prior to surrendering, and provide shelters and discontinuing breeders an alternative to euthanization or surrendering their dogs to those same shelters and humane societies. We make a lifetime commitment to all the dogs that come into our care and have an active board of directors who are all committed to making a difference in the lives of these dogs and the people who rescue and adopt them. By working with dedicated volunteers, foster homes, local veterinarians and other community resources and organizations, WLCCAR has the ability to rescue dozens of dogs every year and place them in environments that are suitable for their behavioral, physical and psychological needs.
Where we rescue: Our geographic priority is Alabama, Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisiana, Western Georgia, Kentucky, Arkansas, Northwestern Florida and limited areas of Indiana and Ohio. We do occasionally assist in other states if it is feasible and have done so in the past. As we have more foster homes come on board we will broaden our reach.

Additional adoption info

Adoption Procedure: As stated above, all potential adopters must complete an adoption application, to include veterinary and personal references, and are interviewed by the foster home at which time the potential adopter can ask any questions that they may have about the dog that they are interested in. We do all of this to ensure the best match possible as we want to place a dog with his/her forever family. All adopters must agree to a video walk-through or home visit before finalizing an adoption. We do charge an adoption fee that is age and health appropriate, ranging from $200 to $350. Often times our adoption fees do not cover the amount expended by us, this is where donations become very important.
