Rescue FAQs

The ADHS attempts to provide shelter for stray and unwanted animals with priority given to abused and neglected animals. The ADHS provides a lost and found reporting service, humane education, and a full range of shelter and foster care and adoption services for cats, dogs, and small animals. Dedicated volunteers make all of these services possible. ADHS has NO PAID employees. The ADHS strives for a 100% adoption rate, with a NO KILL policy for all animals deemed adoptable. Those animals deemed 'unadoptable' by a veterinarian due to illness, severe injuries or of unsuitable or dangerous temperament are humanely euthanized.
The Alliston & District Humane Society covers the townships of New Tecumseth, Mulmur, and Adjala-Tosorontio as well as the Villages of Cookstown, Rosemont and Hockley and the Town of Schomberg.

Additional adoption info

All adopters must sign a contract, after a short interview that determines your family situation and outlines the requirements of the animal you are interested in. All dogs and cats are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and micro-chipped.

Dogs are $600, puppies are $650

Cats are $220 and kittens are $260. Kittens come with a voucher for a local vet for shots, spay/neuter, microchipping, and more.

Adoption fees for small animals are:
All rabbits are spayed/neutered $120
Guinea Pigs $30
