Just In Time Rescue

Just In Time rescue was formed to fill a void in the Gulf Coast rescue community for hard to place high energy, nervous, high drive, and unadoptable dogs. To our knowledge, no local rescue had ever specialized in the rehabilitation and advanced obedience training of these dogs living in public animal shelters. We advocate on behalf of these dogs because we believe these dogs are some of the best family pets with the proper training and a fair chance. We have experienced this many times. We have special expertise in the evaluation, taming, training, and rehabilitation of "problem" dogs. One of our founders has a very successful dog training business and has earned a reputation in the training community as being part of an elite group of only a handful of trainers in the country to have the experience, knowledge, and training to work with these dogs and achieve such great results. Rather than stand by and allow these dogs to die in animal shelters, Just In Time Rescue was formed. We provide these dogs with an opportunity to flourish and find the love and security of a qualified and permanent home.

When an animal shelter contacts Just In Time and requests an assessment of a dog, the dog has generally already been marked "rescue only". This typically means that the shelter has determined that the dog's temperament is too challenging for the average adopter searching for a new family pet. Therefore, the shelter does not make those dogs available for adoption to the general public. Just In Time Rescue typically becomes their last resort.

When assessing dogs for our program, we do not rely on information provided by other parties. We perform an independent assessment of each dog prior to acceptance into our program. Our experience has taught us that owner surrender stories are frequently inaccurate and unfairly blame the dog for the owner's own carelessness. Just In Time specializes in the placement of adult dogs that have no other options.

We understand that the placement of some of these dogs may be difficult and may not occur for extended periods of time. Our philosophy is to wait for the right home, rather than approve an adoption to an unqualified adopter. Once a dog is accepted into our family, we remain committed to the welfare of that dog to the very end. We offer support and training to each adopter.

Additional adoption info

We invest a lot of time, money and love into each animal in our care to help the adopter know what kind of pet they are adopting. Unless there is a medical reason, all of our animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and many of our dogs have had over $2000 of obedience in our "Next Level" training program. We have an adoption process that includes vet reference check, home visit, and a consultation to discuss your new pets training prior to adoption.
