Cuba Mo Animal Control

We are a City of Cuba Animal Control facility that operates under Missouri state statutes of the Department of Agriculture. All animals that come into our care are held for a mandatory five day stray hold and then placed for adoption. We have a very good adoption rate and no animals are euthanized for space. All receive state required rabies vaccinations if over 4 months old. In addition, the dogs receive their first parvo/distemper 7 in 1 vaccination. All animals are also wormed and scanned for a microchip at intake.

Additional adoption info

The adoption fee to adopt a dog or puppy is $60.00.This includes age appropriate vaccinations and anything the dog or puppy needs while in our care. It includes worming medication, parvo/distemper 7 in 1 shot and state required rabies vaccination if the dog is over four months old. If under four months old, you are responsible to see your veterinarian for any further puppy shots needed and rabies vaccinations.

The adoption fee barely covers our costs and does not include spay/neuter. You are required to have the animal spayed or neutered. We have several options that offer very good discounts for animals that are adopted from our shelter. When funding is available, Partners for the Cuba Pound will pay for the spay/neuter surgery or issue you a voucher to help with the spay/neuter costs if used at one of our participating veterinarians. You must fill out an adoption application and be approved by a staff member. If you rent, landlord permission is a requirement.

We are open to the public Monday-Saturday from 9:00 - 3:00 and by appointment on Sunday. Posting on Facebook that you want a particular pet will not place that pet on hold for you You must contact the shelter and talk to a staff member and come in and fill out an adoption application.

Applications are reviewed carefully, references are checked, vet records are checked and it does not matter if you were first to call or first to come in. Every animal is different and will have different needs.

Adoption selection is based on what the staff feels will be the best environment and home for the animal. Our policy is first come first serve APPROVED adoption application when it comes to placement. We do the best we can to help our shelter animals find the second chance they deserve.

The adoption fee to adopt a cat is $20.00 and that includes wormer and state required rabies vaccination if the cat is over 4 months old.

If you live in city limits you are required to have your dogs or cats current on rabies vaccinations and must show proof is asked by one of our PD officers.
