Shelter FAQs

Our modern shelter has welcoming and dedicated staff handling the adoption of pets, processing the release of picked up animals, educating the public, and caring for animals housed in the shelter.
We serve Currituck County and adopt to any approved adopter regardless of where they reside.

Additional adoption info

After you turn your completed Adoption Application in to the shelter, the shelter staff will:
- verify with your veterinarian to make sure your pets preventive treatments are up to date;
- contact your landlord, if you are renting, to verify you are allowed to have pets in the home.
Cats – $75.00
Dogs – $125.00
The Animal Shelter only accepts checks and cash.
Credit Cards are NOT accepted.
All animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated.
