Rescue FAQs

Big Paws of the Ozarks is a foster-based dog rescue in Northwest Arkansas. We aim to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome dogs in our local community. We specialize in large breed dogs (over 40 pounds) but do get the occasional small paw in rescue too! We work closely with shelters and other rescues in our community to target and save dogs who are at risk of euthanasia or have found themselves falling between the cracks of our animal rescue community.

Adoption steps

  1. Submit Application
    1. The first step in our adoption process is completing an application. This is required!
  2. Interview
    1. We set up an initial phone interview to talk about the dog, the application process, and answer your questions!
  3. Meet the Pet
    1. We set up a meet and greet for your family (including your current pets) to meet the dog.
  4. Sign Adoption Contract
    1. Once we all decid this dog is the right fit, sign the online contract and pay your adoption fee online! Then you've got yourself a dog!

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process is thorough in order to ensure dogs go to the best possible home. We try and make it as streamlined as possible, and are often able to set up meet and greets with approved applications within 2-4 days. We often get multiple applications for each dog, and choose applicants based off the best possible fit for each dog.
