Rescue FAQs

German Shepherd Dog Rescue of Central New Mexico is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) volunteer-based animal welfare organization dedicated to rescuing homeless German Shepherd Dogs. By working with a small network of volunteer advocates, foster caregivers, local veterinarians and shelters, German Shepherd Dog Rescue of Central New Mexico is able to rescue several German Shepherd Dogs every year.
Typically, we take on dogs from New Mexico as a first priority. We occasionally take dogs from other surrounding states.

Additional adoption info

A phone call starts the process. We're looking for a dog/home match so we'll ask questions about what you're looking for in a dog and what your home setup is like for a dog to live there. If it seems like a match, we'll have you come over and meet the dog. If it continues to appear to be a match, we will ask the adopter to sign a contract. If the dog does not work out for the new owner, we ask to have first right of refusal in taking the dog back. Adoption fees vary depending on the dog's expenses but typically run between $200-$350.
