Rescue FAQs

We are a foster-based rescue based in Urbandale in Battle Creek, MI. Our main focus as a rescue is on the less adoptable, more at-risk breeds of Pit Bulls and Chihuahuas. We also rescue, rehabilitate and rehome dogs of any other breed (space permitting) and cats! Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, retrain, and rehome, abused and neglected animals. We are a NO KILL. 501c3 non profit corporation. We rely on volunteer power and public donations.

Additional adoption info

Once we receive your inquiry, we will give you any other additional information that we can about the animal you're asking about. Our next step is to get to know you and your household situation so we can get an idea if your home is a good fit for the animal.
If everything sounds good, sometimes we may give you the option to do a vet reference check first. We will call your vet to ensure all animals you own are up to date on vaccinations, heartworm preventative (dogs only) and spayed/neutered.
The vet check can typically be done before or after you meet the animal. If it is done ahead of time, you may have the opportunity to take the animal home at the meet and greet if they prove to be a good fit!
If you rent or live in an apartment, we may also require a letter or verbal confirmation from your landlord that you can have the animal, or that they are aware you are adopting. This is typically only done to ensure we do not put our animals in any unstable situations.

Adoption fees are as follows:
$200 for already spayed/neutered adult dogs
$300 for puppies that are not fixed yet, with a $50 refundable deposit once the puppy is spayed/neutered within the designated deadline which is noted on your adoption contract

$50 for already spayed/neutered adult cats
$75 for already spayed/neutered kittens
$100 for kittens that are not fixed yet, with a $25 refundable deposit once the kitten is spayed/neutered within the designated deadline which is noted on your adoption contract

All animals are adopted with a contract which states we have the right to take the animal back in the event the adopter is not taking care of the basic needs of the animal (including but not limited to adequate food, shelter, and veterinary care). If the adopter cannot keep the animal for any reason, the animal is to be returned to the rescue. We always take our animals back!
