Ruff to Rescue Express

Dog rescue in alvin, TX

The mission of Ruff to Rescue Express is to help Dogs in the Houston, Texas area get off the streets and out of shelters, and be adopted into loving homes. Once they come into our program, they are placed into a foster home. They are then given the rehab and veterinary care needed to get them ready for adoption.

We transport the majority of the dogs we rescue to our rescue partners in New York. They are placed in foster homes there and put up for adoption when they are ready.

Thus far we have rescued over 2800 dogs and transported over 2500.

Our main focus is transporting dogs in need to approved Rescues in upstate NY.  All our direct adoption dogs have been spayed/neutered;  heart-worm tested (if age appropriate); treated for fleas/ticks; microchipped; and examined by veterinarian and given age appropriate vaccinations. We take every effort to ensure the health of the animal and adopters receive a copy of all vet work performed.

We do not have a shelter; all dogs live in foster homes so that we are best able to assess what type of home would be best for our foster dogs. Our goal is to ensure a good match between adopter and foster dog to ensure the dog has a home for life and won’t have to be moved again.

Additional adoption info

We require that existing animals in a potential home are current on veterinary care; spayed or neutered if old enough; and that you allow us to confirm this with your vet prior to any adoption.

Our process is a meeting in a public place for the first meet and greet of our foster dog. If that goes well, we then contact your vet (if you have existing animals) to confirm veterinary care and set up a home visit. We would then bring the foster dog to your home and ensure he/she gets on well with all that live in the home and that it is a safe environment for the dog. A home visit is required before any adoption can take place. We try to do all our adoptions just before family has day(s) off from work so that time can be spent together prior to the work week starting.

Please understand we are all volunteers, so at times it may take a few days for someone to respond to your request/question.

Some dogs will require a fenced in yard and some will not. If there are specific needs for the animal, they will be listed in the write-up or told to you .

Adoption fees:
Puppy to 1 yr of age: $275 to $350
1 yr to 6 yrs of age: $200 -$300
6 yrs to 8 yrs of age: $175 - $200
