Shelter FAQs

Friends of DeKalb County-AL Animal Adoption Center is a 501c3, non profit, all volunteer, foster based rescue and not the shelter staff. Our mission is to improve visibility and increase awareness of the countless number of abandoned, homeless animals located in the DeKalb County-AL Animal Shelter, with the ultimate goal being to unite these deserving animals with the perfect family to call their own. Whether it be by finding adopters for homeless animals, reuniting lost pets with their owners or increasing community awareness about important issues, our volunteers are dedicated to being a voice for the animals in our area that are in need. However, we can not do this alone. There are numerous ways that you can help in this effort, including volunteering, educating, donating, fostering a pet until it is adopted and sharing pictures of animals that are posted on our page. The list of ways to help is endless and can be tailored to meet whatever your needs may be.
