Rescue FAQs

J9's Doberman and Bunny Rescue is a small scale, registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We are a no-kill, foster based Dog and Rabbit rescue that specializes in the Doberman breed and Bunnies, located in Detroit Michigan.

Rescue efforts started single handedly by the founder, Jeannine (AKA J9), back in 2014. She has rescued, rehabilitated, and re-homed dozens of dogs, cats, guinea-pigs, and rabbits. We do not discriminate against any animal, or dog breed; however we primarily work in placing Dobermans and Bunnies in to loving homes. We are also highly involved with TNR of feral/stray cats in Detroit and surrounding areas.

As oddly as it may sound some of our Dobermans are found as strays running the streets of Detroit. They have been pulled from high kill shelters, taken in from other rescues, abandoned older dogs used as "Puppy-mill Breeding Stock", and by owners surrendering for various reasons. Many of the dogs we rescue come to us in very very poor health and often are Heart-worm positive. Our rabbits have a similar past; sadly most are owner surrenders after the novelty of having a cute little "Easter Bunny" wears off.

All of our financial support for food and veterinary care comes from donations and fundraising.

We are always in need of financial support, donations, and more foster homes.
