Rescue FAQs
Weatherford Wags Rescue is an all-volunteer, non-profit, animal welfare organization dedicated to the rescue and placement of at-risk animals from local shelters, stray, neglected and abused animals. Weatherford Wags Rescue is completely funded through fundraising efforts and public donations. All of our pets are cared for by foster homes and receive complete medical care, which includes worming, vaccinations, spaying/neutering and microchipping prior to their adoption.

Adoption steps
- Submit ApplicationWe ask anyone interested in adopting one of our pets to complete the online application at https://www.jotform.com/build/222794202574154
- InterviewWe do initial phone interview to ask and answer questions about the pet they are interested in.
- Approve ApplicationWe will deny or approve the initial application, then move forward with meeting and home visit
- Meet the PetWe try to do Home Visit and Meet the Pet at the same time, or it could be separate visits
- Home CheckHome checks are done, sometimes at the same time the Meeting is done
- Take the Pet HomeWe may do a 1-2 week trial adoption before finalizing the adoption with the Contract and the fee.
- Sign Adoption ContractFinal Adoption Contract Signed and fee paid at the same time.
Additional adoption info
We endeavor to find the best home for each pet in our care. We do home visits on every pet, even if it can only be a virtual visit with pictures and videos from the potential adopter. Most of the time we adopt to people who live close enough for a personal home visit.
