Our volunteer group, Friends of the Florence-Lauderdale Animal Shelter, coordinates the volunteers who provide daily pet care and socialization to the shelter pets. We take in homeless pets and owner surrenders from Lauderdale County. We enforce the City of Florence's animal ordinances. We provide Animal Control in the City of Florence and Lauderdale County and we assist law enforcement in their efforts to investigate animal abuse and neglect.
Adoption steps
- Visit the Facility and Find a PetWhen visiting the shelter, take time to view all of the animals available for adoption and allow ample time to look and visit your new pet.
- Submit ApplicationAdopters must be 19 years of age or older and provide proof of identification. A home visit may be required.
- InterviewOur staff will work with your family when you visit and take the time to find your perfect match.
- Approve ApplicationThis process includes: filling out an application, counseling session, and interacting with the animal you are interested in adopting.
- Sign Adoption ContractIf your pet is not already altered, you will sign a contract to have the spay/neuter surgery done. State law requires this to be done!
- Pay FeeDogs and Cats- $85.00
deworming, up to date vaccinations, spay/neuter, heartworm testing (dogs), FIV/FELV testing (cats), rabies vaccine. - Take the Pet HomeIntroducing a new pet to your home should be a decision that involves all members of the family.
Additional adoption info
Our adoption fee is $85.00 which includes standard vaccines, rabies vaccination, microchips and sterilization surgery.
